What if you knew you were good

I help the “easily-distracted” and self-identified “people pleasures” break the patterns of self-neglect and learn to set the boundaries they need to create the life they want.

Psychotherapy in Walnut Creek, CA for Overworked People Pleasers

You’ve never been good at disappointing people.

You were looking forward to leaving work early. You imagined picking up the kids from school and taking them to get ice cream as a surprise. But as usual, something got in the way and

When you do say no at work, you feel guilty or try to compensate. You ending up bending over backwards just to avoid the idea of having let someone down. Then the cycle starts again. You try so hard to be the person who can do it all – but then you grown resentful that you have no time for yourself.

You’re Worn Out- Because the Requests Never Stop

Inside, you're exhausted and angry with the pattern of lifting everyone else up, of changing your plans to accommodate someone else's urgent request, or of being the only one willing to take up the slack. You desperately want some time for yourself but feel guilty actually taking it. It's probably been a long time since you've taken a real vacation.

I'm Sarah, a Therapist in Walnut Creek for People Pleasers and Overworkers

I help busy professionals hit the pause button so they can reassess and re-discover themselves in the midst of a world that values doing over being and giving over receiving. My clients are often hard-working and successful professionals who have a hard time making room for much outside work.

In therapy, I will help you learn all about why you do the things you do, both from an intellectual perspective and a body-based one, and I will also teach you the skills you need to set the parameters of your life, so that you can feel good about saying yes when you mean it, and great about saying NO.

About Sarah Henley, LMFT

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Certified EMDR Practitioner. I’m also a mom, a Californian, an artist, and an adventurer. I am an ally, a social justice advocate, and a critical thinker. I love to cook, camp, and dance, and for the last 20 + years, I have practiced being a conscious adult in a world that loves living on auto-pilot.

I believe that for any real change to take place, consciousness is key. One has to become an active observer of ones own thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and belief systems (whether created or inherited) in order to see clearly enough to make real change.

I love to work with folks who’ve already fought some demons and are wanting more out of life, artists and creative types, entrepreneurs, parents of all kinds, and young adults who are just trying to figure it all out.
