EMDR

EMDR Stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing.

Developed by psychotherapy pioneer, Francine Shapiro in the early 1990’s, EMDR has been the subject of extensive research over the last several decades and is widely considered to be the Gold Standard for treatment of PTSD symptoms.

Additionally, EMDR has been determined to be an effective treatment for anxiety, depression, addiction, eating disorders and many other afflictions.

During a course of psychotherapy, we may collaboratively determine that EMDR will be beneficial. In this case, we may decide to use our regular weekly sessions for EMDR. Sometimes there is the option to adjust to a 75 minute session.

Please note that we will not use EMDR during our first session. A pre-treatment interview is used to determine, in part, whether or not EMDR will be effective and beneficial.
